Profit From Online Auctions By Selling Other People’s Stuff
If you want to make some extra cash or even start a full time business, you can’t get much easier than online auctions. The problem is that once you sell all of the stuff from your garage, basement, and/or attic, you have to find items to sell.
If you don’t have the time or patience to go around getting items to sell, you can other people’s items. In my area, there are a few businesses that do this, so it’s a service that’s in demand, and it’s something you can do as well.
The advantage is that you don’t have to spend time shopping for deals on items you can sell. Your customers will be coming to you with their items.
The reason this is a great way to make money is that there are still a lot of people who don’t know how to put up an auction, and they don’t want to take the time to learn. But they have items that they don’t use anymore that they would like to sell.
That’s where you come in. You take pictures of the item, put up a listing, and ship the item to the winning bidder. You get a percentage of the profit, after you deduct listing fees and shipping.
There’s no hard and fast rule as to what percentage you should charge. Check with a few of the businesses that do this now to find out what they charge.
A very important thing that you should do is to make up a contract outlining the terms and conditions for your service. That way both you and your customer will know what to expect.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want to spend most of your time listing items that are only going to sell for $10 to $20. You’ll end up working for a lot less than minimum wage.
So try to specialize in the types of items that are selling for more money. Some ideas are collectibles, antiques, rare books and magazines, and electronics.
