From Yard Sales To Auction Success
A lot of people dream of working for themselves – not having to punch a time clock, get up early 5 days a week, get paid too little. And one of the easiest ways to make some extra money and/or start your own business with little investment is eBay.
One thing you’ll quickly realize is that once you run out of items from your attic, garage, and basement to sell, it can be a challenge finding products to sell.
With summer in full swing here in the US, there is an opportunity for you to get a lot of items for a great price by going to garage sales and yard sales.
There are some things to consider before you start loading up your car or van with all of your new found treasure:
First, realize that the best items are the first to go. So don’t wait until late in the day to get to the sales. Be there early and you’ll get the best stuff.
Second, realize that just because you got what you consider a great deal on an item doesn’t mean that other people will pay you more for it than what you paid. After all, the whole idea is to make a profit on every auction listing that you do. And that starts with buying at a low enough price to make a profit.
Let’s look at a few of the things you need to consider before you buy anything:
Are the items I’m considering buying in demand?
What are the most popular items right now?
What items are getting the most bids?
What prices are the items I am considering getting?
It all comes down to knowing what is selling and for how much so you don’t pay too much for anything. The easiest way to do this is to pick categories of items and get familiar with them.
For instance, you might want to sell used tools, books, board games, toys, children’s clothing, or used exercise or sporting goods equipment. Once you have a list of categories that you’re interested in, you’ll be able to quickly go through several sales in a morning.
You can do your research on the eBay site yourself. It works, but it can be time consuming. There is a better way that I use, and it’s a nifty piece of software called Hot Item Finder.
With Hot Item Finder, you can:
Find all the Hot Items in minutes.
Generate a list of hot items from current and completed auctions(so you can see what the final selling prices are).
